Kate and Paul at the opening night of Skullduggery Art Show 2023, Thistle Hall Wellington.

White Cloud Worlds was founded in Wellington in 2009.

Paul and his friend Kate Jorgensen have been presenting creatively excellent original art projects under the ‘White Cloud Worlds banner ever since.  They met in the Design Studio at Weta Workshop where Paul was a Concept Artist and Kate was the Design Studio Manager.  Their first project together was Weta Workshop’s ‘The Crafting of Narnia’.  This successful collaboration led to their own book project; an award winning trilogy of art books produced through Ignite Inc. Ltd. a small creative company.

The ‘White Cloud Worlds’ books showcase science fiction and fantasy art from New Zealand and feature the work of almost 80 artists.  The books were published in New Zealand and the United States and distributed all over the world.  On ‘White Cloud Worlds’ volumes one and two Kate and Paul collaborated with Monique Hamon who was the layout artist on the books and Ike Hamon who managed marketing.

To celebrate the launch of the first book was the ‘White Cloud Worlds’ exhibition.  This nationwide touring show was attended by over 100,000 visitors.  Following the success of the books Kate and Paul produced ‘The Industry of Imagination’ event with ‘White Cloud Worlds’ artist and Massey University Senior Lecturer Tanya Marriott.  The event attracted attendees from all over New Zealand and abroad and included a symposium, artist workshops and a gallery exhibition.

For Kate and Paul ‘White Cloud Worlds’ has always been about building a community for artists to connect and create a variety of forums where people can relate to the art. They always produce artist centric professional events.  In 2023 they produced the first ‘Skullduggery Art Show’.  Designed as an annual event that showcases halloween, horror and supernatural themed art; the show has attracted 1900 attendees over its first two exhibitions.

Outside of their ‘White Cloud Worlds’ endeavours; Kate is the Art Department Manager at Weta FX, and Paul is an Creative Director and co-founder of Arkus Games.
